Immersed In The Andes
Our program is seven nights, six days of fishing (Sunday to Sunday, all inclusive), that will allow you to sample a little of everything this country has to offer: from spring creeks in the Patagonian Steppe to tranquil lakes and larger freestone rivers in the temperate rainforest.
Day 1: Arrival
Upon landing at Balmaceda (BBA), you’ll be met by Diego and our team of guides to help load your gear into our 4WD trucks for a scenic 45-minute drive to the lodge. As the landscape shifts from the arid Patagonian Steppe to our lush mountain valley, you'll get settled into your room and meet the rest of the group over a welcome cocktail and appetizers. The evening concludes with a gourmet, chef-prepared dinner and a briefing on the week’s fishing strategy, ensuring you’re fully prepared for your first cast the following morning.
Days 2-7: Fishing
Every morning we choose the fishing spot for the day according to the guides advice based on weather conditions and guests preferences. We fish many of the larger (and better known) rivers in the area, like the Simpson, Paloma, Ñirehuao, Mañihuales and Emperador Guillermo, but also some other hidden gems that we keep to ourselves and our guests to enjoy.
Stillwaters are part of our program as well, likely being the best place to land a monster fish! Not a fan of lake fishing? Wait until you see how our browns hunt for bugs on the surface while cruising shallow flats: a true visual delight.
Once back from your fly fishing excursion for the day, relax with a well-deserved Pisco Sour at the lodge and enjoy a delicious, chef-prepared dinner with stunning views out of our picture windows. Our homemade pizza in cooked in wood-fired pizza oven is legendary!
Day 8: Departure
Your final morning at the lodge is a relaxed "turnover day" designed to let you rest before your long journey home. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the bar and take your time packing up your gear before we depart around 10:00 AM.
Depending on flight schedules, we’ll head into Coyhaique for some last-minute souvenir shopping followed by a visit to a local "hole-in-the-wall" for the region’s best empanadas—a true Patagonian staple and a delicious final taste of Chile. After a scenic 45-minute drive back to Balmaceda, we’ll handle your luggage drop-off and see you off for your flight to Santiago.
