Patagonia Packing List

Pack For A Week Of Fun

mountain-seperator

The secret to a comfortable week in Patagonia is versatility. While January and February are the height of summer with temperatures swinging from 50°F to 90°F, our "shoulder" months of December and March offer a different kind of beauty. During these months, mornings are crisp and cool (often in the low 40s), while afternoons typically reach the low 70s. Because weather fronts can move in quickly bringing rain and wind, you should expect to experience four seasons in a single afternoon. Layering isn't just a suggestion here—it’s your best friend.

Pro Tips

The "Carry-On" Rule: Always pack your reels, expensive polarized sunglasses, and a change of fishing clothes in your carry-on. If your checked bag is delayed 24 hours, you can still fish in borrowed waders.

Wind Management: Practice your backcast. Often in Patagonia, the wind will be blowing "into" your casting arm. Being able to cast over your opposite shoulder safely is a game-changer.

Cash: While the trip is paid for, bring some crisp, new USD bills for the staff gratuity. Local Chilean banks can be picky about torn or marked US currency.

Packing Light: Don't overpack! We offer laundry service at the lodge, so you can easily get by with fewer shirts and socks than you think.

For Your Main Bag, We Recommend Soft-Sided, Waterproof Duffels: When packing, try to use soft-sided duffel bags rather than hard-shell "spinner" suitcases. They are much easier for us to stack and secure in the back of the 4WD trucks for the drive from Balmaceda! Waterproof just in case if it rains, they're going to be in the back of the truck after all.
